About North American Marine
North American Marine, Inc. is a marine surveying firm incorporated in the state of Ohio with offices in Cleveland, Ohio and St. Catharine’s, Ontario. It was founded in 1968, and since inception, its principal activity has been the conduct of marine surveys behalf hull and P&I underwriters and vessel owners. This has involved the full range of work associated with marine risk including hull and machinery damage, the salvage of stranded and sunken vessels, lake, ocean, and river tow approvals, approval of marine ventures, mooring inspections, condition and valuation inspections, draft and displacement surveys, hatch and cargo surveys, and surveys of damaged docks, bridges, and structures.
This company is named to the hull and P&I policies of the majority of American and Canadian Great Lakes fleets. Also, the firm is a regional representative of several ocean fleets and their P&I Underwriters relative to cargo claims, and is requested to perform hatch surveys on these vessels at time of discharge. Additionally, North American Marine is frequently appointed by P&I Club representatives to survey damages involving ocean vessels entered with these clubs, and to perform hatch surveys at time of cargo discharge.
The bulk of this work is confined to the Great Lakes, Ohio, and Mississippi rivers, St. Lawrence River and Maritime provinces, but not infrequently involved in hull and machinery surveys on the East and Gulf Coasts.
